eSC and Jess Shanahan today reveal the new RM Electric branding and racing livery.
Like Ellis and the Electric Renegades, Jess already had an established brand to adapt for her eSC racing team. Racing Mentor has been around since early 2017, starting as a passion project where Jess gave advice to racing drivers and created content around motor sport sponsorship. When the project started growing with the release of her book Get Paid to Race, she began to dream up the look and feel of the brand.
“I wanted something that was bold, gave me a lot of options for different colour ways, and stood out among typical racing logos.”
With foundations in the Racing Mentor brand, the eSC design team set out to create the right look and feel for RM Electric. While creating a certain level of continuity was important to Jess, so was focussing on this new development for the brand. The name of the team, too, purposely recasts the branding by abbreviating Racing Mentor to ‘RM’ and putting more focus on the electric nature of the races to differentiate the elements under her banner.
“I wanted to lean into what I've been doing with Racing Mentor for almost eight years but I also wanted the team to have a distinct brand. The new logo retains the RM but we've added elements such as the lightning bolt to give it a new look. While the original brand colours favour black with the purple, green, and pink as highlights, the RM Electric brand is bolder, bringing in more of the pink from the original logo.”
The RM Electric eSC livery combines features from both racing and city life by mixing dynamic, speedy lines with abstract, street-style textures. The livery allows the S1-X to look both artful and fast while also being symbolic of Jess’ core mission.
“Racing Mentor was built on a platform of community and inclusivity, but alongside this, I want to bring an unapologetic boldness to RM Electric. This livery does just that! It's about creating your own space and standing out in a way that is true to who you are.”
While it’s not Jess’ first rodeo as a team boss– having previously run a Porsche race team which kicked off her Racing Mentor journey in the first place – it is the first time the brand is reflected in a team livery.
Asked about how it feels to see her brand on the S1-X, Jess said: “This is the next logical step for Racing Mentor. You could say it was born from that experience and from seeing the challenges racers faced when it came to sponsorship. RM Electric is the start of a new era for the brand – one that reaches further than ever before.”
We’re delighted to be taking this journey with Jess and spreading the Racing Mentor mission to our eSkootr Championship fans.
